"For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, [are called]: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, [yea], and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence." 1 Corinthians 1:25-29 (KJV)

THE WORD OF GOD

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." ~ Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)

This scripture is saying that the word (speech) of God is quick (vigorous, alive) and powerful (active) and sharper (implying a cut with one stroke) than any double edged sword. A double edged sword cuts two ways but is dull compared to God's speech.

God's speech is piercing (penetrating) and will divide asunder (part or separate) the soul and spirit which make up the inner being and the joints and marrow which make up the body.

God's speech is also a discerner (skilled judge) of the thoughts and intentions of the heart (inner being).

God speaks to us through His written word as well as through various other church offices that include (but aren't limited to) apostles, prophets, preachers and teachers and the ministry of music. Be blessed in the light of the Word of God.
