NAME 16 of 16: YEHOVAH-TSUWR

Who is Yehovah-Tsuwr and what does this name mean to us?

“Blessed be the LORD my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:” Psalm 144:1 (KJV)

Yĕhovah Tsuwr, pronounced yeh hō vä' tsür, is translated in the scripture above as the LORD my strength but the word TSUWR is also translated as strong, mighty one, stone, rock, beauty and God. The Hebrew word TSUWR is translated as GOD in both Isaiah 44:8 and Habakkuk 1:12.

“Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.” Isaiah

“Art thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.” Habakkuk

In Isaiah above God (Elowahh) likens Himself to a rock, stone, mighty one and to strength (Tsuwr). In Habakkuk He is called all of these with the added adjective ‘mighty’. Yehovah Tsuwr comes to life in these two scriptures as the ultimate, mighty, strong, rock of refuge and protection.

The Psalmist blessed Yehovah his Tsuwr, who disciplined his hands and his fingers to war and fight. Verse 2 of Psalm 144 is critical to a better understanding of this Yehovah name.

“My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.”

In the Hebrew text (I'm explaining in English) the Psalmist describes Yehovah Tsuwr as his goodness, kindness or faithfulness. He also says that He is his fortress or stronghold on top of a mountain; his high place of refuge that is at a secure height; and, his deliverer, saviour or way of escape and way into safety. He also describes Yehovah as his shield and one in whom he trusts; he lastly says that Yehovah subdues his people under him.

I know who Yĕhovah Tsuwr is to me so I ask: who is He to you?

NAME 15 of 16: YEHOVAH-SHAMMAH

Who is Yehovah-Shammah and what does this name mean to us?

“It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The LORD is there.” Ezekiel 48:35 (KJV)

Yĕhovah shammah, pronounced yeh hō vä' shäm' mä, simply means THE LORD IS THERE.

This name is mentioned in only one place in the Hebrew concordance of the KJV of the Holy Bible. It is a symbolic name for Jerusalem. It is a combination of the name YEHOVAH and the Hebrew word SHAMMAH, which is derived from the Hebrew word SHAM. SHAM has its roots in the Hebrew word ASHER and literally refers to ‘there’ in that place, in that time and in that thing.

In the scripture above Yehovah is there in Jerusalem; however, if you are born-again in spirit then Yehovah is there in you too. Jesus said:

“I and [my] father are one.” John 10:30 (KJV)

“At that day ye shall know that I [am] in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.” John 14:20 (KJV)

Since Jesus and Yehovah are one, and since Jesus is in the Father and we are in Jesus, and since Jesus is in us then God is in us as well as around us. This is a wonderful depiction of the name Yĕhovah shammah. The LORD is there.

NAME 14 of 16: YEHOVAH-TSIDQENUW

Who is Yehovah-Tsidqenuw and what does this name mean to us?

“In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.” Jeremiah 23:6 (KJV)

“In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.” Jeremiah 33:16 (KJV)

Yĕhovah tsidqenuw, pronounced ye•hō•vä' tsid•kā'•nü, is much more than just THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Let us examine the name to find out more.

This name is mentioned in only two places in the Hebrew concordance of the KJV of the Holy Bible. It is a sacred name. It is a combination of the name YEHOVAH and the Hebrew word TSIDQENUW, which is derived from the Hebrew word TSEDEQ. TSEDEQ has its roots in the Hebrew word TSADAQ and literally refers to justice, straightness, rightness, rectitude and righteousness. TSADAQ, TSEDEQ and TSIDQENUW refer to various aspects of righteousness that become absolute when YEHOVAH and TSIDQENUW are combined.

As children of God He is our righteousness because He vindicates us, justifies us and saves us. He gave us His righteousness because the righteousness that we possessed naturally was filthy. In fact, we are compared to an unclean thing and our righteousness is compared to a filthy rag.

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” Isaiah 64:6 (KJV)

God is just in that He gives us straight Justice as opposed to crooked justice. He is righteous in His governance of His people; He delivers Justice in each of our individual lives; He is the epitome of rightness in speech; He is supreme in ethical righteousness, and in righteousness associated with vindication and justification in every controversy.

Yĕhovah tsidqenuw: God literally acquits and absolves us of every sin and makes us thoroughly innocent, as if sin never existed to us. All of this is by God’s grace through Christ Jesus.

NAME 13 of 16: YEHOVAH-QADOWSH

Who is Yehovah-Qadowsh and what does this name mean to us? Psalm 99 is a Psalm which declares that God is Holy and commands us to:

“Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy. Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy.” Psalm 99:5, 9 (KJV)

In this Psalm we are urged to worship God in two places. We are to worship Him at the lowest of places: His footstool; and we are to worship Him at the highest of places: His Holy Hill.

In the Hebrew text there are two Hebrew words translated to English as footstool. REGEL in Hebrew refers to the literal foot of God and has the added implication of walking in His footprints at His pace or gait. Following this is the Hebrew word HADOM meaning stool. Also, in the Hebrew text the word HAR literally means mountain, therefore Holy Hill refers to the mount of God where His throne is. These two places: footstool and Holy Hill remind me of Isaiah 66:1 which states:

“Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool:”

We are to worship Him in these two places because Yehovah the self-existent one, our Elohiym, is Qadowsh. This Hebrew word QADOWSH, pronounced kä dōshe', is translated as ‘holy’ in our Holy Bibles. It literally means sacred and derives from the Hebrew root QADASH (←click to see the reference) which means to be separated. The scripture where God is directly listed as being Yehovah Qadowsh says:

“And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.” Leviticus 20:26 (KJV)

In this scripture God was talking to the Israelites about certain practices under the law. This scripture also speaks to us today as born-again believers because we are also separated from unbelievers unto God. This scripture below refers to fellowshipping with unbelievers and does not mean we should not minister to them.

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (KJV)

Leviticus 20:26 says: “…for I Yehovah am Qadowsh!” Here we see that God is Holy and that we are his people who have been severed from other people so that we become His. This word severed comes from the Hebrew word BADAL. It literally refers to separating, dividing or disjoining two things by a veil, fence or wall so that they are distinguished, severed or set apart from one another. We have a command from Yehovah Qadowsh to be Holy unto Him because He has severed us from the world system and has set us apart to Himself. We are bought with a price (Christ) and belong personally to the Holy God. We MUST represent Him in holiness.

“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:15-16 (KJV)

NAME 12 of 16: YEHOVAH-ASAH

Who is Yehovah-Asah? Psalm 95 is a Psalm of praise, worship, thanksgiving and exaltation directed toward Father God our maker. In this Psalm we are taught to bow down on our knees to worship God.

“O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.” Psalm 95:6 (KJV)

There are three significant Hebrew words here. The word ‘worship’ is translated from the Hebrew word SHACHAH meaning to sink down and to prostrate oneself in worship. The words ‘bow down’ are translated from the Hebrew word KARA meaning to kneel down. The word 'kneel' is translated from the Hebrew word BARAK meaning to bless, praise and salute. What is interesting here is that the scripture is saying we should bow down, bow down, bow down before our maker the self-existent one. Let us analyze this further.

In this scripture BARAK refers to invoking, celebrating and adoring God. KARA refers simply to falling down upon the knees or kneeling down, but SHACHAH refers to prostrating or falling upon the face physically (and I must remark, with the back of the neck becoming vulnerable), and implies doing homage or sinking down from the inner being as well. The scripture says:

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.” Psalm 51:17 (KJV)

We are to use this prostrate position to demonstrate our total and complete submission to God our maker. The word ‘maker’ is translated from the Hebrew word ASAH, which refers directly to fashioning and making something by pressing and squeezing it. ASAH also refers to producing or fabricating something using labor, but, producing, preparing and completing that thing from one’s own personal labor. This is a perfect picture of God the potter and us the clay.

Yehovah Asah is the self existent one our maker. We are to kneel down on our knees, adore God, put our faces to the ground and lower our inner being in reverence to Him. This is the ultimate sign of humility and submission, sacrifice and contrition before God our maker.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT THE OFFICE OF A BISHOP?

The Holy Bible details the qualifications of a true Bishop in 1 Timothy 3 and in Titus 1.

"This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil." 1 Timothy 3:1-7 (KJV)

"If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers." Titus 1:6-9 (KJV)

The scripture is very clear about true Bishops. All of us as Christians are urged to prove all things, hold fast to the good, to ABSTAIN from EVIL and to ABSTAIN even from the APPEARANCE of evil.

"Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil." 1 Thessalonians 5:22-23 (KJV)

SEXUAL SIN is a sin against the body. In born-again people the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Sexual sin is therefore a defilement of the temple of the Holy Spirit. The Word of God is a judge and exposes the sin of the unrighteous. Let these things be a lesson to us all. Let us all pray fervently and hold fast to the profession of our faith as good stewards. I urge you all to hold fast to the faithful Word as you have been taught.
