WHAT'S SO SPECIAL ABOUT SALVATION? (God is Love)

Here is an excerpt from the June 2011 issue of my newsletter. Feel free to send me an email if you want to be added to the mailing list to receive it monthly.

This study is in three (3) parts and this is an excerpt from part 1.

GOD’S LOVE
It is a fact that God loves all of mankind including non-believers and sinners. The scripture says God loved the ‘world’ or the KOSMOS. This refers to the earth and its inhabitants but encompasses the universe as well.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

It also says God gave us His only begotten Son Jesus the Christ and He chose to die for us all. Can you imagine giving up your only totally innocent child to die for the vilest, wickedest and most undeserving people that ever existed? I can’t! In fact I know I would not be able to do that. But God’s love for us was and is so unconditional that He did in fact do that.

Christ gave up Heaven, took on flesh and blood or bones, was crucified, died and was buried in a tomb but did not stay dead. God raised Him from the dead. Christ’s resurrection means that all people have the opportunity to be raised from the dead as well. This was God’s plan for mankind so that ALL may be reconnected to HIM. Christ was the first of many.

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.” (1 Corinthians 15:20-21)

All died because of Adam. All have the opportunity to live through Christ. In Paul’s epistle to the Romans we are told that believers are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. There is nothing that is able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Not death nor life, not angels, principalities nor powers, not things present nor things to come, not height nor depth nor any other created thing.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:37-39)

God’s Love for us is permanent. Believers cannot be separated from God’s love by these things listed above. But can we be separated from God? God loves people and hates sin. Iniquity or depraved action (sin) separates people from God. Sin causes God to hide His face from people and to not hear them.

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:2)

This means that where sin exists, God hides His face. It does not mean that He withdraws His love. He loves unconditionally and cannot withdraw His love, not even from the separated. That is why he loves the sinner; God cannot stop loving people because He IS LOVE.

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” (1 John 4:16)

I PRAY FOR YOUR PROSPERITY!

This is the TRUE & REAL prosperity gospel. Please bear with me for a few minutes and let the (Epignosis) knowledge of God permeate your entire being.

You often think about feeding and clothing your families, paying your bills in full and on time and even having enough to put away for any emergency that may arise. With the downturn in the economies in every country across the world this may seem a daunting task. The scripture tells us to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness first, then all these things (in Matthew 6) SHALL be added unto you.

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." ~ Matthew 6:33 (KJV)

The kingdom of God in this scripture is not the actual physical kingdom. The greek word translated 'kingdom' literally means royal power, kingship, dominion and rule. That is authority! This scripture is saying literally that we must seek the royal power of God coupled with the kingship that God alone can give us as well as the dominion and rule that comes with that authority. In addition we are to seek God's righteousness, all of which are given to us when we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Man's righteousness is as a filthy rag (Isaiah 64:6) but as born-again believers, we have righteousness through the faith of Christ.

"And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:." ~ Philippians 3:9 (KJV)

You therefore have the dominion and authority of God and His righteousness when you become born-again believers. This entitles you to have the things listed in Matthew chapter 6 added unto you.

In the book of 3 John, the Apostle Paul wrote to the well-loved Gaius, who had been faithfully walking in the truth, and told him that he was praying for him to be properous and healthy even as his soul was prospering. When Paul said 'wish' the Greek word he used literally meant 'pray'. When he said 'prosper' the Greek word he used meant 'successful' and also meant 'to lead by a direct and easy way' as well as 'to grant a prosperous and expeditious journey'. When he said 'health' the Greek word he used literally meant 'healthy' but had the added connotation of 'true and pure doctrine' as well.

"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." ~ 3 John 2 (KJV)

Paul was praying that Gaius, in his faithful walk with Christ, would be successful and healthy in his life and that God would lead him in the ways that were favorable to him both spiritually and physically. Paul compared the prosperity and health he desired for Gaius as being of the same degree as the prosperity of his soul. Paul did this because he understood that the condition of our material life is dependent upon the condition of our spirit life. If our souls are prosperous and healthy then our earthly life can be as well.

When you accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, your soul begins to prosper. When you continue in the faith, being obedient to God's Word and being faithful in your call as a child of God (Christian) your soul begins to grow more and more prosperous. You can expect to prosper and be in health in your physical life as well, to the same degree as that of your soul. It is God's will that you are prosperous and healthy; if it was not God's will then Paul would not have prayed for it for Gaius.

With this said, It is my fervent and effectual prayer, that you my readers who are faithful to God's Word are propserous and healthy in the name of Jesus Christ. Receive with meekness the engrafted Word, which goes forth and will not return void but will accomplish what it is sent to do.

Praise God!

YOUR GIFT IS YOUR SACRIFICE

The scripture says a man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.

"A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men." ~ Proverbs 18:16 (KJV)

'Man' here refers to man and woman (mankind). 'Gift' in this scripture refers to presents or offerings. 'Maketh room' refers to being widened and being enlarged. 'Bringeth him before great men' refers to guidance that will literally place you before the face of great men.

Don't think of money or material things here. Your gift is a present or an offering; it is non-specific in this scripture and can be anything that you have to offer. Your gift is your sacrifice. My sacrifices are my God-given talents because these are what I have to give. The scripture is literally saying that your presents, offerings or sacrifices enlarge you and guide you so that you will go before the face of great men.

God Bless You!

A Mother's Day Tribute to a TRUE WOMAN OF GOD!

GOD SKILLFULLY MADE WOMAN
The Bible says that mankind was 'created' and 'made'. The inner being which is spirit was created and the outer being which is flesh was made. The Hebrew word translated 'created' in the Old Testament is BARA. There are two Hebrew words translated 'made' ASAH & BANAH. The word 'ASAH' is used in most scriptures where God says he makes things and makes man; however, when God makes woman the word used is BANAH. Woman was not ordinarily made but extraordinarily so.

“And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.” (Genesis 2:22)

The Hebrew word BANAH, pronounced bä•nä, literally means 'built' in the sense of building a temple, 'skillfully formed' as well as 'to cause to prosper'. When I think on this I reflect on the most elaborately built cathedral in existence and then think that God's work of making woman supersedes this infinitely. Adam called himself ISH (man or husband) in Genesis 2:23 and calls Eve ISH SHAH (she-man, wife or womb-man). Woman was elaborately and skillfully built by God; she is help for man and is to cause him to prosper.

God's elaborate design was made from a rib from man’s side, not to be ahead of or behind him, not to be above or beneath him, but to be beside him, loved and protected by him and to be equal to him. She was not a mere physical help but an intellectual and spiritual help, as well as God's gift to man so that man will prosper.

THE PROVERBS 31 WOMAN
Having been made so skillfully by God, woman must be guided by HIM spiritually as well. A woman completely led by God is the ideal woman and a blessing to the man of God. The scripture tells us about the ideal WOMAN. It says first of all that she is virtuous:

"Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates." ~ Proverbs 31:10-31 (KJV)

Woman was made by God with purpose and with 'A' purpose. The Proverbs 31 woman, having been BANAH by God, is genuinely led by God in everything she does. The scripture says SHE IS: Full of virtue and priceless (v.10); reliable and trustworthy (v.11); naturally good and true (v.12); inspired and gifted (v.13); economical and industrious (v.14); loyal to her household and thoughtful of everyone (children and servants) in it (v.15); resourceful and sensible (v.16); untiring and in good physical shape (v.17); well-organized, professional, alert and cautious (v.18); frugal and skilful (v.19); generous, compassionate, kind and merciful (v.20); unafraid and visionary (v.21); clever at selecting her clothing as well as sophisticated in taste (v.22); respected and popular (v.23); hard-working and wealthy (v.24); steadfast, straightforward, secure and optimistic (v.25); wise, diplomatic, kind and understanding (v.26); sensible, realistic, vigorous and always active (v.27); honoured by her family (v.27-28); an ideal wife and mother who is praised because of it (v.28); abounding in virtue (v.29); God-fearing and humble (v.30); commendable, successful and praised by the public (v.31).

She also has an effect on her husband. He has absolute confidence in her faithfulness and he does not need to rely on spoils, that is, prey, plunder or uncertain gain to supply his house (v.11). As long as he lives, he is blessed by her relentless industry (v.12). The elders (his community leaders) consider him a ruler (a leader as well) and exalt him (v.23). He continuously praises his wife’s virtues and blessings especially by telling others about her (v.28).

GRANDMA 'LEE
In my life I have been blessed to know at least one such woman. She was my Grandma ‘Lee. She was a true woman of God who epitomized every one of these virtues listed above. I may seem biased uttering this because she was my grandmother but there are thousands whose lives have been impacted by hers, directly and indirectly.

Grandma 'Lee was a counselor and a praying woman. After accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1939 through the ministry of the man who eventually became her husband, she never looked back. For 70 years she dedicated herself to the work of the Lord, her family and her community.

Aunt Gloria testifies that Grandma 'Lee had the unique gift of prophecy through the Spirit of God in her and would give counsel as she was led by the Spirit. Grandma 'Lee used the gift of prophecy to direct the affairs of the Church of the Living God co-founded by her husband. Young Christians who came into the church were counseled by her in how to walk the Christian walk. Other believers were encouraged in the way. Grandma 'Lee's house was a house of prayer. Every Monday night there would be a gathering, lively singing and prayers would be heard near and far.

As a mother, Grandma 'Lee was a strong person. When her husband died in 1962 she was left with 8 children, 5 of whom were still in school. She did not falter or faint when faced with the awesome responsibility but with the help of her eldest son, managed the family business and saw to their care. Even with the added pressure of raising a family as a single parent she managed to find the balance between church and home and neither place was neglected.

She was a stalwart of the community. She was a seamstress by profession and many families still tell of the many dresses and shirts she made for them sometimes free of charge. She believed that people should better themselves through education and true to her belief she did her part to ensure that the children of the district (not just her own) were not left behind. Many benefitted from her kind donations of books and pencils for school and she unselfishly fed those who had no lunch. Grandma 'Lee spent her long life extending a hand to help others as we are all called to do as followers of Christ.

Countless numbers can attest to the fact that she openly lived ALL of these things listed in Proverbs 31 and influenced and transformed an entire District by her life alone. It was her scripture readings that soothed my soul as a child and her prayers that led me to Christ. I am honored and humbled to have known her, to have been known by her and to be her grandchild.

To a true Proverbs 31 Woman of God: Grandma 'Lee, who passed away peacefully as she slept on January 3, 2010, at the age of ninety-four, having completely fulfilled her purpose.

REJOICE THAT OUR NAMES ARE WRITTEN IN HEAVEN.

"Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked;" ~ Ezekiel 33:11a (KJV)

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." ~ 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)

Let us rejoice that our names are written in Heaven. God bless you.

WHAT’S MISSING? (This is for you!)

According to the Bible, mankind began with family and all of civilization originated from one family. As a result mankind has always been drawn to procreate. The universe is expanding and because of separation from God, everything in creation is deteriorating. Science has tried to give us evidence of the expanding universe while the Bible and history have given us evidence of the deterioration of creation.

The Bible tells us that previously, people lived for hundreds of years and now the average human life is about 70 years. But the life span of man and creation are not the only things that have deteriorated. Throughout the millennia, we can historically trace the deterioration of the family unit as well and the deterioration of all things can be traced to the moment man was separated from God when he did what God told him not to do. Since then, mankind has been left with a sense of loss, a void, and all humans have been sojourners, wanderers and pilgrims through time.

In his search to fill this void man has turned to many things. Fraternities, clubs, churches, temples, cathedrals, mosques, social gatherings, gangs and secret societies are just a few. One of the reasons why these are so alluring to many is that those who join come to feel a sense of belonging. To them it is as if that ‘thing’ that was missing is found in these. This new found ‘thing’ gives a sense of brotherhood, sisterhood, or family. But there is still a void.

Many psychologists, guidance counselors, the clergy and others have tried to find out what that elusive missing ‘thing’ is, outside of a relationship with God through Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit. They have been unsuccessful. Can one teach self or someone else something one does NOT know? I have heard people say: “I taught myself how to ride a bicycle!” They were able to teach themselves how to ride a bicycle because they already had knowledge of the concept of riding. The concept of teaching something implies foreknowledge of the thing to be taught. Without knowledge beforehand, there can be no teaching.

The ‘thing’ that’s missing for you is: GOD IN YOU.

We know that Jesus is the link between us and God. Look at what the scriptures say:

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” Isaiah 7:14 (KJV)

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” Matthew 1:23 (KJV)

Jesus was Emmanuel or God with us.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:1, 14 (KJV)

Jesus is called the Word. The Word became flesh and blood.

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6 (KJV)

Jesus is the only way to reconnect to God.

Jesus was God but temporarily gave up His divinity to become a man. He lived on earth and experienced the same things that we experience but did not sin.

“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin.” Hebrews 4:15 (KJV)

When Jesus died and was resurrected he reclaimed His divinity. He went to sit next to God the father in Heaven to tell God how much He understands what we go through and to intercede for us because He went through the same things.

“Who [is] he that condemneth? [It is] Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” Romans 8:34 (KJV)

If you are not connected to God because Christ Jesus is missing from your life, simply believe and repeat the following prayer:

“Almighty Father in Heaven, I am separated from you because of the things that you hate. I do not want to practice these things anymore. In fact, I reject those things now and repent of all that I have done wrong. I believe that you sent Jesus Christ to die for me and I believe that you raised Him from the dead. I believe that Jesus Christ is seated at your right hand and is making intercession for me. I accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of my life and in Jesus’ name I pray this prayer now. Amen. Hallelujah!”

Now that you have done this, you are reconnected to God. You have the assurance of this through faith. You believed God and you accepted Christ. This was your faith in action. I said: “You are now reconnected to God.” Now you must feed your reconnected spirit with the Holy Bible. Start with the book of St. John. Pray before you read and ask the Holy Spirit teach you in Jesus’ name. Praise God!
